This will be followed by discussions on how to tackle the most pressing challenges facing women in our industry, such as glass ceilings, work-life balance, “leaning in”, and office politics.  Although this Summit will focus on challenges and strategies for women, it will be inclusive to men who strive to mentor and achieve our goals.

Speed Networking

Event Directed by: Libby Braband, Vice President, HDR, Inc.

1:00 to 3:00 PM

Gateway Building, 200 Northeast Water Street, Peoria, IL

By invitation only

The DBE Focus Board has arranged for 50 companies involving minority and primes to help provide access and develop business relationships.

The ICAT Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) group is hosting the 3rd annual speed dating networking event to allow DBE firms the opportunity to network with major Illinois, national and prime consultants/contractors. This event will provide a meet and greet for 25 major companies and 25 minority companies in both vertical and horizontal construction. This event has become incredibly popular and continues to grow because it helps minority firms in the building side and transportation side to have access and network with large firms.

Much like “speed dating” the DBE firms will have 5 minutes to share information about their company with each participating prime. The forum offers many benefits to its participants. We are a relationship business, and through this event, newer small firms are able to network to lay the foundation in order to build a strong partnership that benefits both the DBE firms and the prime firms. It also gives the DBE firms the opportunity to highlight their primary skill sets, differentiators and recent successes in a way that an email or website visit never could.
